Brookwater Pro-Am Serves Up Win For Steven Jones

September 22, 2009 BROOKWATER NAMED QUEENSLAND'S BEST AGAIN

Victorian golfer Steven Jones has taken out the 2009 Minter Ellison Brookwater Charity Pro-Am, hosted at Brookwater Golf Club on Tuesday September 15.

More than 120 professional and amateur golfers took part in the Pro-Am, with Steven Jones shooting an impressive three-under round of 69 to beat Jason Norris from South Australia at second place on 70.

Established in 2002, the annual Pro-Am has proved to be one of the Sunshine Tour's most popular events and this year was supported by sponsors Minter Ellison, the Queensland Pro-Am and Centenary Classic Mercedes Benz.

The Amateur winner of the Pro Am was Brookwater member Rob McLellan on 33 points and the winning team was made up of professionals Matthew King and Matthew Keegan and amateurs Brad Cumming and Gary Coullett.

Brookwater Golf Club general manager Peter Hourigan said the 2009 Pro-Am delivered some competitive golf on the Greg Norman-designed course.

"The Pro-Am was a great success with 60 professionals and 64 amateurs battling it out on the course through the day," Mr Hourigan said.

"Congratulations to Steven Jones who came out on top with a great score of 69.

"Once again, Brookwater is donating part of the proceeds from the Pro-Am to charity and this year $1,400 will be going to our selected beneficiary the Mater Foundation.

"We would like to thank our sponsors for this year's Pro-Am - in particular Minter Ellison who helped make this event possible."

Brookwater Golf Club is part of the $250 million Brookwater residential development by Springfield Land Corporation.

The club is managed by Troon Golf, the recognised leader in upscale golf course management and development around the world. The company currently manages golf courses in 26 countries including the USA, Scotland, Japan, Mexico and the Bahamas.
