Brookwater Golfer Set For Pro Status
March, 2008
Brookwater Golf Club staff member Bree Arthur is taking the women's amateur golfing community by storm after winning the PGA Queensland Amateur Golfer of the Year for 2009.
Supported by Springfield Land Corporation, Bree was one of only four amateur golfers to make the cut in the 2009 Australian Ladies Open held in Melbourne last month.
Playing against a majority of professional female golfers, 20 year-old Bree said she was surprised and proud of her final results.
"For an amateur golfer, just to make the cut in a competition dominated by professional players is a huge achievement," Bree said.
"I was quite surprised at the result but it makes me hopeful for a future career in professional golf."
With the help of Springfield Land Corporation, Bree is planning to make the trip to the United States at the end of the year to attend a professional golf school to hone her skills.
Brookwater Golf Club general manager Mark Holland said the Club were proud to have such a promising up and coming golfer on the team.
"It's great to see Bree doing so well not only up against her fellow amateur golfers but those already on the professional circuit," Mr Holland said.
"We will be sad to see her go but wish Bree the best of luck pursuing her golfing career."
With eleven years golfing experience, Bree represented Australia in the 2009 Trans Tasman Cup and was named the New South Wales Amateur Champion in 2008.
Bree's love of the game extended into her working life when she took on a role in outside service at Brookwater Golf Club three years ago.
Brookwater Golf Club is part of the $250 million Brookwater residential development by Springfield Land Corporation.
The club is managed by Troon Golf, the recognised leader in upscale golf course management and development around the world. The company currently manages 200 golf courses in 32 countries including the USA, Scotland, Japan, Mexico and the Bahamas.
