Brookwater Village on-track for delivery late 2012

Brookwater residents are eagerly awaiting the new $30 million Brookwater Retail Village, which is scheduled to open later this year.

Located at the corner of Augusta Parkway and Tournament Drive, the new one-stop shop Brookwater Retail Village will house a Mater Health Centre, a Woolworths supermarket and eight specialty stores.

Woolworths Limited Regional Development Manager Chris Sheehan said he was excited about the $30 million development.

“At this stage, the Brookwater Retail Village is due to open in November this year,” Mr Sheehan said.

“We are extremely excited by this unique development which includes both convenience shopping and extensive medical all under the one roof,” he said.

Mater Health Services will partner with MyLife Medical Group to establish the area’s first integrated health service in one, purpose-built facility. The Mater Health Centre is set to include services such as a GP clinic, medical imaging, pharmacy, pathology, allied health services and visiting specialists.

Springfield Land Corporation Deputy Managing Director Raynuha Sinnathamby said the Brookwater Retail Village will see Brookwater become one of the best-serviced residential communities in south-east Queensland.

“Brookwater has evolved dramatically in the past couple of years, with 2012 a particularly exciting year for residents,” Ms Sinnathamby said.

“The new Brookwater Retail Village will bring a diverse range of health services and retail options to the local community, firmly positioning the premier golf community as one of south-east Queensland’s best-serviced areas,” she said.

Ms Sinnathamby said there had also been a number of exciting developments in the Greater Springfield community over the past six months, which was contributing to the region’s incredible growth.

“Greater Springfield is experiencing rapid growth at the moment, with developments such as the Springfield rail line, upgrades to the Centenary Highway and construction of Good Shepherd Catholic School and the Hymba Yumba Community Hub all well underway this year,” Ms Sinnathamby said.

The completion of the $475 million Richlands-to-Springfield rail project will see 9.5 kilometres of dual rail line built to new stations at Springfield (near Woodcrest College) and Springfield Central (near Orion Town Centre).

“The construction of the Springfield Line is on-track to be completed in 2013. Once completed, commuters will be able to travel to direct to Brisbane’s CBD,” Ms Sinnathamby said.

“In addition to all of this, the University of Southern Queensland announced last month it would expand the facilities at its Springfield campus which is set to provide a significant boost for the local economy.”

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) – one of Queensland’s fastest growing education institutions – received almost $50 million from the Federal Government to expand its digital and online learning capabilities at its Springfield Campus.

USQ also purchased the existing two Springfield campus buildings and an additional three hectares of prime land from Springfield Land Corporation for $52 million to cater for the expected ongoing growth in the region.

“USQ is the foundation of Springfield’s Education City initiative, which is set to cater for the projected student growth in Queensland’s third fastest-growing region,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
