Development continues to boom for Brookwater
Wednesday 5 December, 2012
The new $30 million Brookwater Village is on track for a February 2013 opening, with Mater Health confirming a range of services for the centre.
The Brookwater Village is located at the corner of Augusta Parkway and Tournament Drive. In addition to the Mater Health Centre, the village will also include a Woolworths supermarket and eight specialty stores.
The retailers confirmed for the village include The Coffee Club, Escape Travel, Mado’s Turkish Restaurant, Sushi Ho Ho, Brookwater Realty, Brookwater Nails and a bakery.
Springfield Land Corporation Deputy Managing Director Raynuha Sinnathamby said completion of the Brookwater Village would be an important milestone for Brookwater.
“When the new Brookwater Village opens early next year it will provide an even greater level of convenience for Brookwater residents,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
“We’re particularly excited about our partnership with Mater Health. Having such a diverse range of medical services just a few minutes down the road will be a fantastic addition to the Brookwater community.”
Healthcare in the region will be further enhanced with the Federal Government’s announcement of $21.4 million in funding for a state-of-the art cancer care clinic to be built in Springfield Central.
The clinic will offer day and radiation oncology and will include two new linear accelerators, consultation rooms and a research unit. The new cancer unit is a partnership between the Springfield Land Corporation, Mater Health Services and Radiation Oncology Queensland.
Ms Sinnathamby said a number of other developments in the region were also nearing completion.
“The Good Shepherd Catholic School will open its doors in January next year for students from prep to grade three and the brand new Springfield Rail Line is expected to commence services in 2013,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
“Brookwater residents are only minutes from Springfield Central Train station which will make accessing Brisbane’s CBD even easier.
“Springfield Central continues to grow with expansions in both Orion Town Centre and the University underway, both of which are a huge boost for Brookwater residents.
“It really is an exciting time in Brookwater’s evolution as the premier suburb in Greater Springfield.”
The completion of the $1.2 billion Springfield rail project will see two new stations at Springfield (near Woodcrest College) and Springfield Central (near Orion Town Centre).
Transport to and from Brookwater will be further enhanced in 2014 when the upgrade to the Centenary Highway is complete. The upgrade will see an extra two lanes added to the highway between Springfield Parkway and Johnson Road at Greenbank, three bridges and a new on-ramp from Logan Motorway.
“This year has seen significant developments in transport, education, health and retail in the Greater Springfield region,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
“And the New Year is looking even brighter, with a number of key infrastructure projects due to be completed in 2013.
“It really is a great time to be at Brookwater.”
Brookwater is a premier golf residential community built around the Greg Norman-designed Golf Course and is part of Greater Springfield.
