Brookwater welcomes highway duplication announcement
Monday 29 October, 2012
Access to Brookwater will be even quicker and easier thanks to the Queensland Government’s decision to double capacity on a section of the Centenary Highway.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mr Scott Emerson made the announcement last month, following a review of the Richlands-to-Springfield project.
Brookwater Residential General Manager Terry Honan welcomed the announcement, which will see an extra two lanes between Springfield Parkway and Johnson Road at Greenbank, three bridges and a new on-ramp from Logan Motorway.
“The announcement from Transport Minister Scott Emerson is great news for our residents, and will no doubt make the commute to Brisbane even faster for motorists during peak hours,” Mr Honan said.
“The Centenary Highway upgrades are set to be completed in 2014, complementing the Springfield rail project which is on-track to open next year,” Mr Honan said.
Springfield Land Corporation Deputy Managing Director Raynuha Sinnathamby said key infrastructure developments in the area have contributed to Brookwater becoming one of the best-serviced residential communities in south-east Queensland.
“Brookwater has evolved dramatically in the past couple of years, with 2012 and 2013 a particularly exciting time for residents,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
“The new Brookwater Retail Village – scheduled to open early next year – will bring a diverse range of health services and retail options to the local community, firmly positioning the premier golf community as one of south-east Queensland’s best-serviced areas,” she said.
“Greater Springfield is experiencing rapid growth at the moment, with developments such as the expansion of Orion Town Centre, the Springfield rail line and upgrades to the Centenary Highway all well underway this year,” Ms Sinnathamby said.
As well as upgrading the Centenary Highway, the $1.2 billion Springfield rail project will see 9.5 kilometres of dual rail line built to new stations at Springfield (near Woodcrest College) and Springfield Central (near Orion Town Centre).
