Brookwater Golf & Country Club set to host 2013 Queensland Open
The Brookwater Golf & Country Club will host the Queensland Open in August 2013.
After a six year hiatus, the Queensland Open will return to the PGA Tour of Australasia next year and will be played from 22 to 25 August 2013 at Queensland’s number one golf course.
The tournament will carry Official World Golf Ranking points, with players competing for $110,000 in prize money.
Brookwater Golf & Country Club General Manager Warren Seeto said he was thrilled Brookwater had been chosen to host the return of the Queensland Open.
“We’re honoured that the Brookwater Golf & Country Club has been chosen to host the return of the Queensland Open in 2013,” Mr Seeto said.
“The Queensland Open represents a fantastic opportunity for Australia’s top amateurs to compete with some of PGA’s best, right here on Queensland’s number one course.
“Brookwater’s commitment to providing an exceptional golfing experience will ensure the reintroduction of the Queensland Open to the PGA Golfing calendar, while offering golfers and spectators a world class event,” he said.
Isuzu has been announced as the naming rights sponsor, securing the state-based event at Brookwater for the next three years.
The Brookwater golf course was designed by two-time major winner Greg Norman, whose award-winning courses are famed for using the natural contours of the landscape while maintaining a strategic design. The Brookwater golf course features a varied terrain encompassing two nine-hole loops and an overall distance of 6,505 metres.
Earlier this year Brookwater was announced as Queensland’s number one golf course in the Australian Golf Digest’s exclusive ranking of Australia’s top 100 courses and was named Queensland’s number one public-access course by Golf Australia.
