American tourist Mr Richard Schiffers scored more than he imagined on the Brookwater golf course this week, when he scored a hole-in-one at Queensland’s number one golf course.
Mr Richard Schiffers made the spectacular hole-in-one on Tuesday – 3 April – on the fifth hole, an elevated par three measuring 155m
Brookwater Golf & Country Club General Manager Mr Warren Seeto said Mr Schiffers was trying out the Brookwater golf course as part of a tour around Australia, where he is visiting the country’s top 50 golf courses in as many days.
“Richard – who is visiting from California – was visiting Brookwater for the day as a part of his 50-day trip around Australia in an attempt to visit the nation’s top 50 golf courses,” Mr Seeto said.
“We were so excited to hear that he scored a hole-in-one while playing the Brookwater course.
“The Brookwater golf course is designed by two-time major winner Greg Norman, whose courses are famed for its strategic design and varied terrain.
“It’s not every day we have someone score a hole-in-one at Brookwater,” Mr Seeto said.
Richard’s visit to Brookwater comes just weeks after the Brookwater Golf & Country Club was named Queensland’s best golf course in the Australian Golf Digest’s prestigious ranking of Australia’s Top 100 Golf Courses.
This follows on from Golf Australia’s ranking of Australia’s top 100 golf courses in January this year, where Brookwater was named Queensland’s number one public-access course.
Mr Seeto said the latest hole-in-one was just another way to celebrate the Club’s 10th birthday.
“Golfers can enjoy a number of great offers to celebrate our 10th birthday, so there has never been a better time to play Queensland’s best golf course – and perhaps even score a hole-in-one,” Mr Seeto said.
Brookwater is a residential development centred on the Greg Norman-designed Golf Club and is part of Springfield Land Corporation’s Greater Springfield.
